Before I created Hook & Ami, I was content being an experienced crocheter who loved designing and making amigurumi for fun. But I often found myself frustrated when I struggled to find clear and comprehensive resources when I encountered something that I didn’t know how to do.

Then one day, I realized how overwhelming it was for beginners to piece together instructions from different platforms—searching YouTube, reading blogs, and buying patterns—just to learn a single skill. Many might just give up, leaving unfinished projects in the closet.

I began to think about how rewarding it would be to combine my years of teaching and curriculum design experience with my passion for crochet to help others discover the joy of amigurumi. I wanted to create something that I wished I had when I started out.

I decided to set out to create the most accessible and detailed crochet course for the most enthusiastic beginner crocheters in the world.

It turns out, the road was more difficult than I imagined. From testing patterns and curating materials to learning video production and balancing everything with my full-time job, the process felt overwhelming at times.

I tackled these challenges by leaning on my strengths as a lifelong learner and a teacher, breaking everything into manageable steps and staying committed to my mission of making crochet accessible and fun for everyone.

My biggest fear was that no one would find value in my courses or kits or that they would still find learning amigurumi too hard.

Through it all, I released my first course, and the response has been incredibly heartwarming—people are excited, inspired, and eager to start stitching!
